As in previous years, Chapter 317’s on-site work for Operation Good Cheer started at “O” dark 30 on December 8. This year, though, members of Chapter 317 who worked on Saturday ended with a bright sunny day. Of course, the work we do for less privileged children through this charity makes every day a bright day, doesn’t it!
Dan and Tom piled into John’s company Suburban, half asleep, I think, at Nicholson’s around 5:45 am. We arrived at the Oakland County airport to find familiar faces from other STAR Chapters, with more arriving as the sun started to rise—including our own John and Ollie Short, who drove up separately. Karol was around for a while, but to be honest, we lost track of him at some point.
During the day, we would load more than 14,000 presents onto planes ferrying them to over 4,600 children in foster homes throughout the state of Michigan.
